Evaluation

During the study of Great Expectations, and from that the Victorians I have learnt so much about how different people lived in that age, and how important your appearance was in showing your status. It was especially interesting to delve deeper into each character and start to create my own interpretation on "who" they were. I feel with this brief I found it a lot easier to go off by myself and think of my own things to research.
I made a plan of what research I needed and started to create an order to it that would lead me to my final designs. Not only did I get to research into the novel as a whole, I also got to delve into The gothic as a whole. The Architecture in particular is my favourite part of the Gothic, especially as I got to see such Gothic buildings in Paris. While building up my technical file I learnt along the way different materials I could use to create my characters such as Miss Havisham. I found that although I enjoyed doing prosthetics work it isn't my strongest point, and feel I was stronger with my theatrical ageing.
With the knowledge of my strengths I could now start creating my final looks. Keeping in mind that the characters must be historically accurate, true to the novel and must be possible to create continuity.
Overall I feel that my research really helped with creating my final characters and that my designs are appropriate for HD broadcasting.
